Relics of the American West: 1850-1920
Lot 2123:
Description
This striking Native American style sash features intricate glass seed beadwork hand-sewn onto a thick, supple leather backing. Designed with prominent geometric medallions in a patriotic or ceremonial red, white, and blue color palette, the piece showcases classic Indigenous-inspired aesthetics, though a specific tribal origin or maker cannot be definitively verified. A close look at the piece reveals visible age and wear, including some areas of missing or loose beadwork, minor thread fraying along the edges, and natural darkening, stiffening, and staining to the leather reverse, all consistent with handling and age. The belt width measures 2.75” in the straight sections, the round medallions measure 4”wide, and the overall length of the piece is 66”. Please see photos for condition.
