Description
This collection features high-quality items primarily centered on the Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.) and Kenosha, Wisconsin, regional history. Included is a pair of yellow felt cavalry sergeant chevrons, likely late 19th-century Indian Wars or Spanish-American War era, showing minor fraying at the tips and visible stitching on the reverse. The group also boasts several significant G.A.R. pieces: a 1917 Delegate Medal from the 51st Annual Encampment in Kenosha, multiple pinbacks including an 80th Encampment ribbon, and a Whitehead & Hoag manufactured ribbon. Notable are the bronze commemorative pieces, specifically a coin for the Kenosha Soldiers Monument and a large medal depicting the Gilbert M. Simmons Memorial Library. Rounding out the lot is a framed Dale Gallon print titled “The Railroad Cut,” celebrating the 140th Anniversary of Gettysburg. All items show age-appropriate wear, light oxidation on metal surfaces, and some fading to silk ribbons, yet they remain well-preserved in display cases.
