Description

This impressive collection of dug relics offers a tangible glimpse into 19th and early 20th-century life, likely recovered from homestead or privy sites. The lot includes five Ryker mounts filled with diverse treasures: kaolin clay pipe stems, hand-forged iron skeleton keys, ornate Victorian-era buttons (bone, shell, and metal), porcelain doll fragments, early glass bottle stoppers, and various brass hardware. Notable pieces include a “VEGETABLES” embossed metal plaque and several projectile points or metal arrowheads. These artifacts are presented alongside a rustic, hand-built red-stained pine chest featuring strap hinges and a primitive latch. The collection shows expected “dug” condition, including heavy oxidation, rust on iron components, soil staining, and minor chips to ceramics and glass. The wooden chest is missing half of its hinged lid and shows significant weathering and wood loss. Box: H 10″, W 24″, D 10″. Largest Case: H 1″, W 16″, D 12″. Four Small Cases: H 1″, W 12″, D 8″.
