Relics of the American West: 1850-1920
Lot 2022:
Description
This comprehensive collection features an impressive array of prehistoric lithic and bone tools, primarily highlighting the craftsmanship of early North American indigenous cultures. The assemblage includes various flint and chert projectile points (including corner-notched and lanceolate styles), scrapers, and bifacial blades showing significant pressure flaking. Notably, the set contains several worked bone tools, including what appear to be awls or needles, and a large, polished scraping tool fashioned from a heavy faunal element. Most pieces appear to be in “as-found” condition, displaying authentic mineral deposits and varying degrees of edge wear, though some lithic points show minor tip loss or ancient impact fractures consistent with use. Ryker case dimensions: L 12.25″, W 8.25″, D 1″ Please see photos.
