Description

This classic Western Electric “fiddleback” style hand-crank magneto wall phone represents a fascinating bridge between eras. Originally a turn-of-the-century oak set, it was later professionally retrofitted for mid-century use, featuring an internal Bell System rotary dial mechanism and a modern coiled handset cord. The unit retains its iconic twin nickel-plated bells and the signature “long pole” transmitter on the front. Inside, the original magneto remains alongside the later 1960s-70s era wiring and dial, complete with a Milwaukee “414” area code number card. The oak casing shows typical age-related wear, light scuffing, and dust; note that the bolt for the long pole swivel is missing and needs to be replaced. H 24″, W 14″, D 12″. Please see photos for condition. Note: Pickup/ Transport required. Contacts available post auction.
