Description

This is a rugged piece of industrial Americana—a 600 lb capacity platform scale manufactured by the Chicago Scale Co. in partnership with the Mason, Davis & Co. foundry (late 19th to early 20th century). Built for heavy-duty warehouse use, it features a robust cast iron rolling base with original wheels, a sturdy hardwood pillar, and a brass balance beam with clear, stamped graduations. The top of the wooden pillar houses two heavy cast iron counterweights (marked 100 lbs and 200 lbs) that rotate freely but remain securely mounted to the assembly. The unit includes the hanging weight poise and displays an authentic, hard-earned patina; the wood shows expected scuffing and character marks, while the cast iron exhibits surface oxidation consistent with its age and utility. The brass beam remains highly legible and the mechanical linkages appear intact. H 43″, W 20″, D 36″. Please see photos for condition. Note: Pickup/Transport required. Contacts available post auction.
